MA in Producing for Film and Television Cannes Film Festival

Students in the MA in Producing for Film and Television have the opportunity to take what they’ve learned in the classroom to one of the world’s most influential film events: the Cannes Film Festival. Through the Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Distribution course (FTM 508), students can spend nearly two weeks in Cannes gaining firsthand experience in the business of film and television.

Take your film education to the world stage

Rather than simply attending the festival, students work alongside industry professionals at sales and distribution companies, gaining insight into how films move from production to audiences around the world.

Work inside the global film industry

At Cannes, students are immersed in the business behind the films on screen. They are placed with a film sales or distribution company, where they gain practical experience and see firsthand how industry professionals approach sales, marketing, distribution and international film markets.

Depending on their placement, students may attend market screenings, assist with company screenings, prepare coverage, welcome industry guests, create content and work directly with company leadership. The experience gives students an opportunity to apply the skills they’ve developed at Quinnipiac in a fast-paced, global professional environment.

Learn from the people shaping the industry

Cannes brings together filmmakers, producers, distributors, buyers, marketers and other entertainment professionals from around the world. Students have opportunities to learn directly from industry leaders through panels, roundtable discussions, guest speakers and networking events.

Through membership in The American Pavilion, students also gain access to a hub for emerging filmmakers, students and entertainment professionals, with industry programming, networking opportunities, social events and a collaborative space to connect with others from around the world.

Experience Cannes beyond the classroom

There’s more to Cannes than the business of filmmaking. Students experience the energy and excitement of one of the world's most celebrated film festivals, with opportunities to attend film screenings and premieres, experience the red carpet, connect with fellow Bobcats and take in the culture of the French Riviera.

The experience also includes time to explore Cannes and the surrounding region, including a group cultural excursion to Île Sainte-Marguerite and opportunities to enjoy the local food, scenery and culture.

An experience that can launch what comes next

For students, Cannes is more than a memorable trip! Working directly with industry professionals gives students the opportunity to build their networks, gain relevant experience and explore career paths in film sales, distribution, marketing and production. For some students, those connections can continue after they return home. Recent participants have received full-time employment opportunities with companies where they interned.
